Stantec expands Urban Places team in Chicago

Brian Jennett brings over 20 years of experience in community planning, real estate analysis, and economic consulting

03/16/2021 CHICAGO, IL TSX, NYSE:STN

Leading global design firm Stantec has welcomed Brian Jennett to its Urban Places team as an urban planner and real estate analyst. Based in the firm’s Chicago office, Jennett will provide consulting services such as market analysis, development strategy, and financial feasibility. He will work closely with clients in the private sector at the pre-design stage and those in the public sector evaluating how to promote economic development, accommodate growth, assess impacts, and fund infrastructure. He will also be responsible for assisting in the growth of the Urban Places practice in Chicago.

Jennett brings over 20 years of experience in consulting for design, planning, real estate, and economics. Recent project experience includes studies for the repositioning of the former McDonald’s HQ Campus outside Chicago; a major entertainment-driven mixed-use project outside Austin, TX; a new headquarters for a government agency in Sacramento, CA; and smart city strategies for Singapore’s Housing and Development Board. Prior work also includes real estate strategy for a range of corporate clients, including Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard, ExxonMobil, Shell, The Walt Disney Company, and The Clorox Company.

“Formally trained as an architect and planner, Brian brings a unique skillset: having spent a significant portion of his career in real estate economics, he helps clients and colleagues understand what is possible, given the math and science behind development. We are delighted to welcome him to Stantec,” said Todd Meyer, Principal at Stantec.

Jennett is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Design and master’s degrees in both Architecture and City & Regional Planning. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the American Institute of Certified Planners.

Stantec’s Urban Places team is an interdisciplinary hub bringing together leaders in planning and urban design, mobility, resilience and sustainability, mixed-use development, real estate advisory, and smart cities. The team works in cities and suburbs across North America to unlock new economic, social, and environmental value through enhanced livability, equity, and resilience. By blending data and industry expertise with creative approaches, the group equips communities with the tools necessary to proactively manage change and confidently shape the future.
