Stantec promotes three to VP roles in Buildings

Experienced leaders for sustainability, engineering, and education elevated within the practice

Stantec, a global integrated design firm, has announced the promotion of three leaders in the firm’s Buildings practice. Rachel Bannon-Godfrey, Laura Flannery Sachtleben, and Kevin Merrikin have been named vice presidents as the firm recognizes their commitment to leadership and growth.

Rachel Bannon-Godfrey
Bannon-Godfrey is the global sustainability discipline leader and leader of the firm’s Carbon Impact team. With a steady focus on advocacy and client service, her influence and leadership extends across North America, the UK, India, and Australia. As a key contributor to cross-BOU sustainability strategies, Bannon-Godfrey represents Stantec at the AIA Large Firm Roundtable Sustainability Committee and is actively engaged in Stantec’s Inclusion and Diversity initiatives – where she connects the concepts of sustainability and equity.

She is a strong voice for Stantec Buildings within the sustainable design community. Bannon-Godfrey brings high levels of integrity, passion, and thought leadership while representing Stantec within the industry.

Laura Flannery Sachtleben
Appointed to head the firm’s Education and Science & Technology sectors in 2020, Sachtleben is committed to bringing sustainability, resiliency, and safety to education and science and technology clients. She leads the Lilypad Network resiliency/sustainability project, a holistic framework designed to help cities recover from natural disasters, which can be replicated in communities around the world. Sachtleben also oversees Stantec’s Research + Benchmarking program that provides an internal framework to increase collective knowledge, explore industry trends, and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of Stantec designs.

Under her leadership, Stantec was named the #4 K-12 and S&T Architecture on BD+C’s Giants 400 Report for 2020.

Kevin Merrikin
Merrikin was recently named discipline lead for Engineering where he has created a strong vision and momentum for Stantec’s Buildings engineering disciplines focused on achieving design and discipline excellence, QA/QC, and promotion of thought leadership. Bringing 25 years of expertise in designing science & tech and biotech facilities, he actively works to integrate Stantec engineering teams across the global Buildings practice.

Merrikin also combines technical excellence, client commitment, and collaborative leadership style to drive growth and results for Stantec’s high-performance, integrated design practice.

“Rachel, Laura, and Kevin are inspiring leaders—committed to their teams, their clients, and their craft. They strive for innovation, sustainability, and excellence as they bring designs to life, enriching the communities we serve,” said Leonard Castro, executive vice president for Buildings at Stantec. “We are proud to recognize their valuable contributions to our firm.”
