Six global Stantec offices earn WELL Health-Safety Rating

Third-party review recognizes advancing health in buildings

02/16/2023 OTTAWA, ON TSX,NYSE:STN

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design, recently announced it has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating for six of its offices through the International WELL Building Institute. Five of the newly certified offices are in the Middle East in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; Doha, Qatar; Manama, Bahrain and Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; the sixth office is in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Each location was awarded the WELL Health-Safety Rating following the successful completion of third-party documentation review to confirm the office met the WELL requirements.

The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types. It focuses on operational policies, maintenance protocols, stakeholder engagement, and emergency plans to maintain a healthy environment now and into the future.

“Our Stantec team focuses on creating human-centered building design and embraces sustainability strategies that create healthy spaces for employees and clients alike,” said Ghina Annan, senior sustainability specialist for Stantec and WELL certification coordinator. “We are honored to have attained the WELL Health-Safety certification for several of our Stantec offices. This recognition underlines our continuous efforts to innovate workspace solutions that keep health and well-being at the forefront.”

In order to achieve WELL Health-Safety Rating, the Stantec offices implemented strategies including:

  • Business continuity and re-entry plans to facilitate resilience during and recovery after an emergency
  • Emergency preparedness and response training
  • Resources and programs to educate occupants on the relationship between health and buildings
  • Design of spaces to minimize high-touch surfaces, mold, moisture, and contaminated respiratory particles
  • Restriction of hazardous and harmful ingredients in cleaning, disinfection, and sanitization products
