European Investment Bank selects Stantec to provide Advisory Support on Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Nature based Solutions in Environmental Sectors

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been selected by the European Investment Bank (EIB) to deliver Advisory Support on Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Nature‑based Solutions in Environmental Sectors—a major initiative under the European Union’s InvestEU Advisory Hub.

The assignment will contribute to the acceleration of public environmental investments within the EU, notably in climate adaptation, resilience, and nature-based initiatives, through the provision of dedicated technical and financial advisory services.

Turning climate solution ideas into real, fundable projects
The project contributes to scaling up climate adaptation and nature‑based solution investments across Europe through the Climate Adaptation Investment Advisory Platform (ADAPT). As part of the InvestEU Advisory Hub, ADAPT provides specialized technical and financial advisory support to help EU public project promoters develop resilient, investment‑ready projects. Stantec’s support will help improve the development, bankability, and environmental impact of initiatives across environmental sectors, including water management, flood resilience, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable land management.

Stantec will be providing advisory services for key initiatives such as:

• Expanding local funding instruments to catalyze private investments in actions that protect and restore nature in a wide range of areas, such as carbon, water, and biodiversity.
• Integration of nature-based solutions into regions in the EU most affected by the impacts of climate change events.
• Developing a framework and investment plan for the ecological redevelopment of natural areas within urban centers.

Pan-European collaboration across Stantec offices
The Stantec team will assess initial concepts for technical, environmental, and financial viability; evaluate climate risks; and consider nature‑based solutions. Activities range from climate risk and vulnerability assessments to feasibility studies, financial structuring, delivery model analysis, and capacity building.

The contract is delivered through tailored advisory services for each assignment. Supported by a broad pool of technical and country-specific professionals, Stantec’s multidisciplinary team from Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Italy will apply internationally recognized methodologies, including, cost-benefit analysis, scenario modelling, and multicriteria analysis. These activities will help accelerate the identification, preparation, and implementation of projects aligned with EU climate adaptation and biodiversity objectives, with a specific focus on nature-based solutions.

Stantec has a long track record of providing climate adaptation, environmental advisory, and sustainable infrastructure services across Europe. This includes contributions to the EIB Water Sector Orientation, projects under the InvestEU Program, and numerous EU‑funded initiatives supporting climate resilience, nature restoration, and environmental management.
