Sam has more than 40 years of experience as a civil engineer focused on pipe and pipeline design, construction, condition assessment, failure investigation, and repair. He’s served as senior vice president of engineering for one of the largest concrete pressure pipe and steel pipe manufacturers, where he managed engineering offices in the US and Canada.
With experience in steel, ductile iron, and reinforced concrete pressure pipe, Sam has managed the design, manufacturing, and quality assurance for major water supply pipelines and programs. This includes several segments of the Integrated Water Pipeline (IPL) with a total of 25 miles of 108-inch and 84-inch diameter welded steel water pipe. In the early 90s, Sam was also responsible for overseeing what was then the longest water conveyance pipeline in the country—the 156-mile Colorado River Municipal Water District (CRMWD) Ivie Pipeline in West Texas.
Sam has served as chairman of the American Concrete Pressure Pipe Technical Committee and continues to play a leading role on national American Water Works Association (AWWA) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards for concrete pressure pipe and steel pipe.
