Uncovering fossils can feel like detective work, following clues to solve a mystery, or having the mystery unexpectedly revealed. That’s the rush Geraldine feels as a field paleontologist—a discipline many clients are surprised we provide. Responsible for maintaining the overall scientific integrity and oversight of all paleontology projects, Geraldine works hard to meet our client’s and stakeholder’s expectations.
Having worked on over 500 projects throughout the western United States, one of her most memorable projects spanned eight years for a major utility company involving an intensive paleontological inventory survey of 250 miles of right-of-way easements and access roads. Her role included cultural/paleontological resource identification and recording, data recovery, worker education, and creating a construction-phase paleontological resource management plan.
Outdoor activities that raise her adrenaline are her favorites—mountain biking, snowboarding, rock climbing, backpacking, cross-country skiing, and motorcycles. She also leaves room for quieter pastimes like travel and sharing good food with family and friends.
