Motivated by the responsibility of delivering infrastructure that directly supports communities, industry, and long-term grid reliability, Kiyoumars focuses on the design and construction of power transmission line projects. He is well-versed in using PLS-CADD, PLS-TOWER, and PLS-POLE software for overhead transmission line design. He provides detailed design involving environmental loadings, line entry design, set designs, tower analyses, fountain loads, and construction and maintenance checks.
Kiyoumars also has experience with lightning and overvoltage studies, insulator string calculations based on pollution levels, insulation coordination, and electric and magnetic field analyses. He conducts corona and noise assessments, conductor selection and creep calculations, and step and touch voltage evaluations using CDEGS. Additionally, he is skilled in underground cable design using CymCAP.
One of Kiyoumars’ most rewarding projects to date involved supporting LUMA in Puerto Rico over the past few years. Contributing to the successful delivery of multiple transmission line projects under their Grid Modernization Program has been both professionally and personally meaningful.
