Born and raised on Oahu, Hawaii, and living in Oregon, Nevada, and California, Turhan has had the opportunity to observe the various ways water impacts different climates, from protecting coastal areas and managing stormwater to providing essential water supplies in arid regions.
In his role as a civil engineer, Turhan applies his technical expertise to the planning, design, and implementation of water, wastewater, and recycled water conveyance systems. These include pipelines, pump stations, water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment plants, stormwater facilities, and site/civil development. His responsibilities also include mentoring junior engineers, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, reviewing calculations and drawings, and engaging with clients and other key parties.
Away from work, you can find Turhan snowboarding in the mountains during winter or spending the warmer months with his feet in the sand or out camping in the wilderness.
