While attending North Dakota State University and pursuing his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Zach developed an interest in working in the western Great Plains. Now in his role as a soil scientist, he specializes in conducting baseline soil, vegetative, and aquatic surveys and reports across the region.
Zach’s projects include large-scale soil survey efforts in the Intermountain West, wetland mitigation and delineations in the Dakotas and Minnesota, and native and non-native species investigations. His responsibilities include project management, leading field work, data analysis, and report delivery.
Outside of work, you can catch Zach volunteering with the Moorhead Non-Profit Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley. He also likes to spend time at the gym, taking care of his aquariums or dog, or running his third-generation family farm.
