Specializing in avian and bat studies for pre- and post-construction projects in the United States and Canada, Laura is proficient at acoustic bat analysis, including manual vetting of rare and threatened species and using automated analysis programs. She’s also able to identify bird species by both sight and sound and conducts avian studies such as visual raptor surveys, eagle point count surveys, nocturnal migrant radar surveys, and breeding bird surveys.
In her position, Laura carries out vernal pool surveys and natural resource assessments and supports wetland delineations as part of local, state, and federal permit applications. She’s worked on a variety of natural community and rare plant surveys and projects ranging from general reconnaissance observations to quantitative community- and species-specific surveys. These projects have involved natural community mapping and analysis for transportation projects, utility corridors, and development sites.
When she isn’t working, Laura enjoys being with her family, adventuring outdoors, and playing board and card games with her friends.
