Deputy Practice Leader, Water

Photo of Michael

Mike is a big picture specialist. He thrives on bringing innovation and lessons learned through his experiences in construction, risk and claims management, and disputes resolution to his support of client and end-user goals. When working with project teams, he looks for and communicates practical and constructible engineered solutions for the anticipated ground conditions. Mike has been involved in over 50 tunnel and underground projects for water infrastructure and the waterpower and dam market sectors—totaling more than 110 miles (160 kilometres) in length and up to 36 feet (11 metres) in diameter, more than 60 shafts, and several rock caverns—globally.

Passionate about sharing his knowledge with others, Mike was the lead author for the chapter on water tunnels for the Underground Construction Association of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration book, The History of Tunneling in the United States.

When he’s not busy guiding his team on the latest tunnel projects, he’s sailing and cruising the San Juan and Gulf Islands and the fjords and mountainous regions of Desolation Sound (BC) with his wife on their sailboat, Wicked.
