Steve has expertise in development management, the Scottish planning system, environmental legislation, and project planning gained from working within both the public and private sectors. He is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and a practitioner member of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals.
An outcome‑focused senior planning professional, Steve has more than two decades of experience delivering high‑quality, timely decisions on complex development proposals. He previously served as lead major applications planner for a Scottish local authority where he made determinations involving major schemes across sectors including national infrastructure, renewable energy, residential, commercial, and retail.
Throughout his career, Steve has been a lead planner involved in numerous major projects. Some of his projects include Coire Glas pumped storage hydro in the Scottish Highlands and the Exxon redevelopment of the former Esso Oil Terminal in West Dunbartonshire.
Outside of work, Steve is a prominent figure in the curling community and is currently president of The Irish Curling Association.
