Driven by a lifelong love of building and problem-solving, Derek brings over three decades of mechanical engineering experience to his role as team leader. Guiding an office of integrated architects and engineers, he is responsible for business development and maintaining long-term client relationships. His other duties include project development, quality reviews, standards development, and mentoring.
Derek has experience designing complex heating and cooling systems, ventilation systems, temperature controls, plumbing, and fire for a wide range of projects. These include higher education, K-12 facilities, and laboratories as well as mixed-use, commercial, and healthcare developments.
A dedicated mentor both at work and beyond, Derek has served as a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America, where both of his sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He enjoys music and travel—he’s closing in on his goal to visit all 50 states!
