Jos is regarded as one of the foremost experts in the Netherlands for the upcoming Environment and Planning Act (called Omgevingswet), which will migrate all laws and regulations in the country for spatial projects into a single act to simplify the compliancy process and make life easier for anyone who is interested in getting projects related to land use, residential areas, infrastructure, the environment, or nature and water off the ground.
Even though the new Act will take effect in 2019, Jos has been actively involved in preparations since 2012. He supports Dutch governmental organizations and municipalities in the process of preparing for the new Act, specifically through the preparation of environmental plans, impact analyses, and roadmaps. Since April of 2017, he is one of the project leaders on a national program to introduce and implement the Act. Since 2012, Jos leads the organization of an annual conference “Day for the Environment and Planning Act” (Dag van de Omgevingswet) with the Dutch Association of Environmental Professionals (VVM).
