In his 34-year railway career, Steve has been exposed to multiple aspects of the railway industry. Steve has considerable experience inspecting track to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and specifications. Steve has overseen numerous track construction projects ensuring the construction is completed safely without delaying trains. Steve has been responsible for numerous railway design projects leading the rail design activities and insuring compliance with the appropriate regulations and standards. Steve also managed Third Party review contracts for Metrolinx, VIA Rail, Region of Waterloo, and Canadian Pacific Railway. Projects reviewed on behalf of the railways included pipe and wire crossings, new and modifications to existing Road/Railway crossings, construction of new track, development next to active rail lines, crane swing agreements, fencing, grade separations both over and under the rail line, settlement monitoring, and temporary shoring. While at CN Steve was employed in both the engineering and transportation department and has been employed in the railway industry continuously during his 34-year career. Steve’s certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) further supplements his skill set by allowing him to apply project management processes which are recognized worldwide. PMP focuses on all aspects of project management including budget and schedule control as well as effective management of stakeholders and resources. Additionally, Steve is a qualified track inspector (TIG) with advanced knowledge of CN and CP’s track standards, and is Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) qualified.
