As a child, Jorge enjoyed making slides on rocks and creating structures with clay. His passion for Mother Earth’s great mysteries inspired him to choose a career in earth sciences. Today, as a geological engineer, he continues to study the geomechanical behavior of rock and soil.
Jorge has more than 25 years of experience in providing geotechnical and hydrogeological engineering for mining projects in Peru, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. His work involves geotechnical design for open-pit mining, geotechnical monitoring, slope performance evaluation, and slope depressurization. He has also led geotechnical and hydrogeological studies for open-pit mines and tailings dams.
Away from his geotechnical engineering work, Jorge enjoys reading, traveling, and learning to play the guitar.
