For Aklile Gessesse the work he does every day is more than a job. He is changing people's lives for the better and that makes getting out of bed in the morning after late night calls with colleagues around the world a little bit easier.
Aklile’s role as the operations and commercial manager for Eastern Africa is all about relationships. He focuses on ensuring our existing clients' projects, like Ethiopian Electric Power's Genale-Dawa (GD-3), are a success, while also exploring new opportunities across Eastern Africa that will deliver clean renewable power to regions suffering from energy shortages.
His 30-year career has brought him around the world and enabled him to tackle some of the biggest issues facing the industry. He has tackled everything from water, environmental and energy issues, including the planning and implementation of a vital water supply project in Northern Ethiopia in support of the Ethiopian Climate Change Adaption program.
Aklile is committed to the success of Ethiopia and the surrounding areas. He takes great pride in seeing a project from initial concept to completion. When he’s not in the office, he is planning and identifying how to resolve the next challenge the region is facing.
