Jon specializes in ecosystem service valuation and natural capital assessments as well as benefit-cost, economic impact, and decision analyses. An environmental economist, he has conducted natural capital assessments for government clients at federal, state, and local levels. For example, on behalf of the Bureau of Land Management, he estimated the ecosystem service benefits of their efforts to conserve and protect over 130 million acres (53 million hectares) of greater sage-grouse habitat across the western US.
Additionally, Jon has led several stated preference studies for water, sewage, and electric utilities in the Unted States and United Kingdom. These focused on customer willingness to pay for public and private service improvements, energy-efficient products, and attributes that would increase participation in energy-efficiency programs. Currently, he’s conducting a natural capital assessment for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Away from work, Jon enjoys listening to music and attending live performances, playing guitar, hiking and spending time outdoors, traveling, and exploring vegetarian and vegan cooking.
