Laya has extensive experience in site investigation and remediation projects in Canada where she manages large multidisciplinary teams. She has worked on environmental assessments, risk evaluations, monitoring, and remediation projects. Her responsibilities include budgeting, fieldwork and safety planning, data analysis and reporting, and developing remedial designs and specifications.
During her career, Laya has focused on complex remediation and closure projects in remote and northern regions including the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. She has managed intricate field programs with challenges like limited access, remote communication, and short construction seasons, working closely with territorial governments and engages with Indigenous communities to support successful project delivery. Additionally, she draws on her previous role with the Construction Association of Nova Scotia Developing Executives Group to enrich her professional perspective.
Away from the world of environmental engineering, Laya is an active member of her community and enjoys spending time with her growing family. You’ll also often find her involved in local Lebanese community events.
