For much of her education and professional career, Devyani has devoted her work to advancing community resilience to climate-change hazards along the increasingly vulnerable coastlines of India, the Caribbean, and the United States. An advocate for the communities she works with, she considers socio-economic vulnerabilities and adaptive capacity throughout the resilience planning and decision-making process.
When working with the state governments in North Carolina and Louisiana, Devyani engaged communities to proactively use cost-effective ecosystem restoration and non-structural methods. She’s especially proud of her use of nature-based solutions for mitigating flood risk across coastal communities in the Gulf of Mexico.
Devyani is an avid cook and a traveler. When at home, she loves to recreate her favorite dishes from other countries for her family and friends.
