Photo of Maureen

Dr. Maureen Kesaano is a water and sanitation engineer focused on providing sustainable solutions to water quality, sanitation, and public health challenges faced by communities or governments in developing countries, especially in the Africa region.

She has specific research experience with low cost appropriate technologies such as stabilization ponds in her native country (Uganda), plant based (algae and duckweed) nutrient removal systems, biomass waste management techniques to generate bio products like methane gas, and innovative biological systems (biocatalysts) for reclaimed water use in industry and wetlands rehydration. She’s currently working on fecal sludge management projects involving data analysis and technical writing.

When not at work, Maureen is busy trying to decipher her toddler’s language, learning about different cultures and traditions, and traveling to see her family and friends.
