Project Archaeologist

Photo of Darren

As a project archaeologist, Darren specializes in underwater archaeology and digital data collection methods. He has an extensive understanding of Euro-Canadian sites and Indigenous assemblages and coordinates archaeological work for numerous underwater and terrestrial archaeological projects across all sectors.

Darren has collaborated with Stantec archaeologists across Canada to develop new digital methods for archaeological recording, incorporating the latest technologies to increase efficiencies in the archaeological assessment process. Assisting Yukon Government archaeologists, Darren conducted an underwater archaeological survey for sunken World War II aircraft near Watson Lake. The survey used remote sensing and a remotely operated vehicle to detect submerged aircraft. Darren also developed a 3D model of submerged aircraft for long-term archaeological monitoring.

Outside of work, Darren is an experienced SCUBA diver and loves to explore the shipwrecks of the Great Lakes.
