With over a decade of combined professional and academic experience in ecological restoration, wildlife biology, and applied environmental research, Heather is an environmental scientist. Her work has focused on projects in British Columbia, particularly in the mining and oil and gas sectors, with an emphasis on wildlife habitat restoration and reclamation.
Heather’s experience includes developing and implementing restoration plans, supporting wildlife reclamation programs, habitat modelling, and preparing and contributing to environmental assessment reports, monitoring reports, wildlife technical reports and caribou habitat restoration and offsetting plans. She’s led field programs for wildlife use surveys, habitat feature assessments, and remote camera monitoring. Her graduate research focused on developing a caribou habitat restoration model to inform reclamation strategies to support caribou re-use of the Quintette Mine near Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia.
Away from her desk, it’s no surprise Heather loves getting out in nature. She enjoys hiking, running, and exploring all that the Okanagan has to offer with her husband, young son, and dog.
