Karvin manages our geotechnical group based in Vancouver, British Columbia. With more than 20 years of experience, she has been involved in major mining-related projects including feasibility and detailed design for tailings, earth dams, waste rock pile, and pit walls.
Inspired by the challenge of working in earth sciences and engineering, Karvin enjoys the technical elements of her role. She takes pride in her work and enjoys working as part of a team. She believes understanding geology, the limitations of designs, and client goals are important for project success—ultimately, we deliver the best products when working together. Karvin also has experience with dam safety reviews, tailings options studies, coal, and metal mine projects across the globe, as well as oil sands projects in Canada. Previous to her work at Stantec, she has held positions in mining and environmental consulting.
Outside of work, Karvin enjoys spending time with her family.
