Dane has more than 10 years of experience addressing sustainability challenges working in diverse roles in the energy sector. He advances projects that implement smart grid technologies and reimagine how energy systems service buildings, transportation systems, and communities.
Dane enjoys keeping up with rapid innovations in the energy sector. Involved in smart grid project development and energy conservation initiatives in the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors, he has also supported renewable energy deployment in East Africa and municipal sustainability programs in South Africa. As part of a multi-stakeholder initiative, Dane helped conceptualize a microgrid project combining smart metering, solar generation, and battery storage to improve resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
In the process of completing a PhD that examines sustainable energy transitions, Dane is focused on understanding smart grid technology deployment, institutional and regulatory change, and social acceptance of emerging technologies.
