Every day, John gets to come into work and think about airports. As he puts it, “every part of an airport interests me—from the runway to the terminal and passenger experience.” His passion is contributing to aviation projects that connect communities.
John is the manager and lead civil engineer of our Aviation group for Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. He’s been a licensed civil engineer in Alaska for 10 years, and he has 16 years of experience in civil engineering design, construction, materials testing, and construction administration.
Recently, he completed the Juneau Runway 8-26 Rehabilitation project. With a compressed timeframe, he and his team reconstructed Juneau’s sole runway.
In a location that is so heavily reliant on aviation as a mode of travel, John says that his best asset is the fantastic team that he gets to work with. When he’s not at work, John may be spending time with his family, mountain biking, volunteering, hiking, or plane spotting.
