Richey has more than 20 years of client-focused, collaborative design experience for higher education institutions and corporate clients. His strength is working effectively with diverse constituent groups to reach consensus on building and planning solutions that support business strategies. Richey’s success as a team leader stems from his high integrity, ability to listen intently to client needs, and strategic leadership which ensures that the design team supports the client’s vision at every step.
Richey has led teams on complex building projects ranging in size from 10,000 square feet to more than 1.2M square feet, and he’s led more than 20 comprehensive master plans for higher education campuses, neighborhood redevelopments, and corporate headquarters. He promotes a forward-thinking approach to design for higher education and is eager to witness the transformations the next few decades will bring.
He serves on our US Education Leadership Council, on our US Diversity and Inclusion Council, and is one of our third-party certified unconscious bias training facilitators. Richey has been a national leader in the design and construction industry’s efforts to increase the diversity of our workforce—equitably and inclusively across differences. This supports Stantec’s Diversity and Inclusion mission and helps us better meet the needs of our employees, clients, business partners, shareholders, and the communities we serve.
The level of dedication seen in Richey’s work carries over to his free time. When he’s not in the office, Richey is an avid car enthusiast and can be found spending time hiking, road-tripping with his wife Tracey, attending car shows, or enjoying his very organized and extensive music and movie library.
