Coming from a small island in the Persian Gulf, Mahmood has always been drawn to aquatic surroundings—this has led him to a career in civil engineering, focusing his work on the water discipline. He wanted to support his local environment and felt that the best way he could do that would be through his project work in sewage treatment plants, irrigation pipelines, and storm and potable water.
Mahmood began his path in the United Kingdom where he completed his undergraduate and master’s studies. He then came back home to Bahrain where he remains active with the United Kingdom institution of civil engineers, helping to create social and educational events centered on civil engineering topics.
At Stantec, Mahmood is on the leadership team of our Developing Professional Group (DPG) where he leads the chapters outside of North America. This group is focused on supporting the advancement of our company’s developing professionals by creating a network for them to grow within and connect to leadership and development opportunities.
