Planning the restoration of a natural area is one thing, executing the installation of thousands of plants, shrubs, plant plugs, and trees is another. But there’s a step in the middle of the process—the packaging and shipping of these fragile and sensitive living things. That’s where Gilberto and his team come in.
As shipping manger for our Native Plant Nursery, Gilberto oversees and manages the entire shipping process to get plants to the work site. He first determines the best shipping and packaging methods for each type of plant based the quantity to be shipped, the types of plants, and the freight cost estimates. With orders in transit all over the country, he communicates constantly with the sales team and also with shipping vendors. When not preparing or tracking shipments, Gilberto is training and supervising members of his team. He also creates monthly and yearly reports on plants shipped, labor breakdown, shipping issues, and other reports and analyses as requested.
Away from work, Gilberto enjoys spending quality time with wife and son, hiking, and taking small road trips.
