Andrew Nishihara

Civil Engineer

Photo of Andrew

Growing up on a row crop farm in the rural high desert of agricultural eastern Oregon, Andrew quickly realized that water was the lifeblood of the region and central to its economy. As a civil engineer with a bioengineering background, he’s worked on dozens of water planning and treatment projects for communities large and small. He’s also completed designs for all major components of a water system, including river intakes, pipelines, treatment plants, pump stations, and reservoirs. A career highlight was helping start up the first large-scale per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) water treatment system in Alaska when it was -20º F.

Andrew loves connecting with all the amazing people in the water profession. Why? He shares their passion for protecting public health and this valuable resource—water—for generations to come.

In his free time, Andrew enjoys hitting the links at one of the 50 Portland area courses, trying new gluten-free and dairy-free recipes in the kitchen, and spending time with family.
