Gavin joined our team as an engineer in 2010 and now leads over 220 transportation professionals to define and implement strategies that drive the future of transportation infrastructure and advance communities across New Zealand. He finds the best part of his job is working in collaboration with our partners and delivering solutions in their communities.
His abilities in strategic thinking, leadership, and a drive for continuous improvement mean he’s often commissioned by clients to solve issues, whether they’re in safety, operations, or active transport modes. As a result, Gavin has worked across many different disciplines, but one of his project highlights was delivering a network of approximately 50 kilometres of cycleway between 2010 and 2014 to open cycling and walking access to many areas in the Hawke’s Bay. Looking ahead, he’s keen to deliver projects that directly contribute to improved road safety.
Through his work on our Inclusion and Diversity Council, Gavin’s focus has also been on the historically low representation of women within the Transportation business unit, particularly at senior leadership levels. His goal is to shift culture and the business more broadly to aid in the attraction, retention, and growth of women within the team.
While at home, Gavin loves everything to do with sport and reading—always fiction and never factual, which he gets plenty of at work.
