Gene has nearly three decades of experience in transportation engineering, focusing on planning, budgeting, and project management. As a licensed professional engineer, he’s passionate about improving travel and safety. He oversees design for construction plans and has expertise in roadway maintenance, design, and navigating government processes.
A lifelong New Mexico resident, Gene has partnered with the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and the state’s municipalities, giving him deep insight into local needs and challenges. One of his most memorable projects involved coordinating the development of drainage improvement plans to replace culverts damaged by wildfire and flooding in Mora and San Miguel Counties.
Outside of his engineering work with transportation and roadways, Gene loves being outdoors in nature, whether he’s camping, hunting, or fishing—and sometimes all the above!
