Working with our team in Portland, Matthew’s job is to expect—and prepare for—the unexpected. A structural designer with more than 10 years of experience, his day-to-day ranges across evaluating existing structures, detailed structural analysis and design, engineering services during construction, and value engineering reviews. Matthew is most passionate simple design, successfully working together with owners and contractors, and seismic resilience.
Matthew’s project experience ranges from seismic evaluation of small pump stations to complete designs of treatment facilities. This includes the $69 million expansion of the Lake Oswego Tigard Water Treatment Plant from a 16MGD treatment facility to a 38MGD treatment capacity, where he oversaw predesign through commissioning. With every project bringing new challenges, he finds equally as many rewards in a successful project completion.
Outside of work, Matthew enjoys working on restoring his family’s 1930s home. He’s also an avid mountaineer—in 2019 he climbed Mt. Saint Helens, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Hood.
