Johanns is a mining engineer with extensive experience in geotechnical engineering, encompassing exploration, hydrogeological, geophysical, and geotechnical drilling campaigns. He specializes in permeability testing, penetration testing, and the operation of geotechnical instrumentation in construction projects and mining operations.
Currently, Johanns serves as a quality assurance (QA) supervisor. He assists the engineer of record (EoR) in the daily management of construction work at a tailings dam, providing quality assurance and quality control oversight. He manages the validation of changes proposed by the client, which sometimes require a detailed analysis of the design. This includes evaluating aspects such as drainage system design, geotechnical instrumentation, wall stability analysis, and more, adhering to the Global Tailings Management Standard for the mining industry. He also validates design changes, such as drainage systems and geotechnical instrumentation, complying with international safety and sustainability standards.
Outside of work, Johanns loves spending time with his family by the sea, especially surfing. Being at the beach and in the water is how he disconnects and recharges.
