Matthew Rawluk

Senior Archaeologist

Photo of Matthew

Matthew approaches archaeology as a study of how people and landscapes shape one another, combining practical field experience with a focus on context and collaboration. His areas of interest include boreal forest, subarctic, and Arctic archaeology. He has conducted archaeological surveys, excavations, and laboratory analyses in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, Northwest Territories, and Italy.

In recent years, Matthew has worked as a permit holder and senior archaeologist in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. In this role, he has completed desktop reviews and constraints mapping and directed archaeological field programs. He’s worked on archaeological impact assessments and mitigative excavations for a range of projects including oil and gas development, transmission lines, forestry, and mining, among others.

Away from his archaeology work, Matthew enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time outdoors.
