For Dan, working in project controls means getting the opportunity to work with people in a variety of fields and locations. “I like working with new people and getting a big-picture view of project execution,” says Dan. As a project controls specialist, he combines a background in engineering and construction to understand what large and complex projects need.
Recently, Dan has been working on the National Center for Cancer Care and Research in Doha, Qatar. It’s a hospital design project that has called on people from Stantec offices all across the globe. Dan gets to help coordinate and control the design effort—work that he finds both challenging and exciting.
Through clear communication with clients and internal management, Dan finds the right tools that add value and lead to the successful completion of projects. When he’s not working, he likes to be outdoors and active: hiking, camping, rock climbing, snowboarding, mountain biking, or playing soccer. He might also be woodworking or brewing beer, if he has the time.
