Simon is responsible for developing and providing engineering services in the dams and hydropower sector. He focuses on the greenfield development and refurbishment of small and large hydropower and hydro pumped storage schemes.
A senior principal hydroelectrical engineer and practice lead for our Hydro Electrical group, Simon’s work involves the design and review of electrical and controls systems from the generators through to the step-up transformers in the switchyard (water to wire), and the various systems in between. He is also involved in dam safety, both as a designer and reviewer of dam safety critical systems.
In his work, Simon enjoys being a part of the renewable energy journey, and the positive impact it can make on smaller communities. For example, in the Pacific islands this can reduce the reliance on fossil fuel energy sources and help reduce electricity costs too. He also enjoys collaborating with overseas hydropower colleagues and working together on large global projects.
Beyond the workplace, Simon is busy with his young family and loves watching them grow and flourish.
