Sam’s passion for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) stems from his childhood in Seoul, South Korea, where he loved seeing the interactions between people, travel modes, and technology. He has a unique mix of transportation and ITS experience for clients from California to New York. This includes traffic studies, signal design, simulation modeling, traffic management center operation, and ITS and toll system design.
As the regional ITS lead for New York and New Jersey, Sam works within our National ITS Practice and Northeast Region’s Smart(ER) Mobility Core team. He also has experience with deployment and integration of advanced traffic management systems, transit signal priority, and adaptive signal control technology. Before joining us, he was the project manager for one of the largest urban connected vehicle (CV) deployments in the world.
When he isn’t working on ITS, Sam enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, playing the guitar and piano, and watching sports.
