Cari is a passionate bridge engineer who strives to be on the leading edge of design technology, adopting a practical approach while seeing challenges as opportunities. She believes bridges provide critical connections to enhance public safety and support local economies.
When seeing a completed project, Cari gets a sense of joy knowing the hard work invested by the project team and the value that effective infrastructure provides to communities. She understands the many considerations that make a project successful through all phases of design, construction, and operation, using her experience across several project delivery methods. Cari co-wrote a paper that was presented at the 2019 International Bridge Conference, discussing a modified, practical equation to estimate the width of the gap that forms if a rail on a train bridge breaks.
Outside of work, Cari enjoys mountain biking, playing hockey, woodworking, and volunteering with organizations focused on education and mentorship.
