As a structural engineer, Rory finds accomplishment in seeing building design offer positive impacts on people’s lives when structure works in harmony with architecture. In his role as structural lead for our Buildings team in Calgary, Rory appreciates getting multiple perspectives on each project solution.
Honesty, openness, comradery, and laughter are all values Rory brings to his work. Though his role has changed throughout his career at Stantec, Rory’s focus is supporting his team in providing feasible designs and details that meet client expectations. In his first project as an engineer in training (EIT) working on a $1.4 billion hospital, he spent half his time doing design and the other half on site working with the contractor and owner—this made for an incredible journey of learning.
Outside of work, Rory likes to go to the gym, go for bike rides or hikes with his family, spend time at the family ranch, and travel. He’s also on the Consulting Engineers of Alberta (CEA) buildings committee.
