Maria Summerville
Structural Engineer
Maria is dedicated to strengthening the transportation infrastructure that keeps New Jersey moving. Her work spans bridge design, inspection, load rating, and project management, blending technical precision with her deep commitment to public safety and service to the community.
Throughout her career, Maria has inspected hundreds of bridges throughout the state. She’s played a pivotal role in design‑build pursuits and concept development studies, as well as superstructure and substructure replacement and rehabilitation projects. She often serves as the steady force that helps solve complex problems and progress the solutions from concept to construction.
As the DPG Regional lead for our US Northeast Developing Professionals Group (DPG), Maria is equally passionate about shaping the next generation of professionals.
When she isn’t inspecting or designing bridges, Maria enjoys traveling, particularly anywhere that has lots of nature for her to explore. She is also an avid reader and yogi.
