Amir is the data operations and development and operations lead for our Water team’s office of research, innovation and technology. He architects the operational common data environment (OpCDE), helping govern how project data is provisioned, secured, and organized. He also leads analytics for the common data environment that transform streamlined data into scalable sector-wide insights beyond individual projects.
A civil engineer by training, Amir has always worked at the intersection of engineering, computation, and data. From modeling particle transport in research to teaching statistics, data has been a constant theme throughout his career. His move into data engineering allowed him to combine those interests while supporting the engineering industry he knows well.
Amir is particularly proud of helping build the foundation for the OpCDE Hub, where standardized data enables AI-powered descriptions, metadata tagging, search, and improved project discoverability. Seeing these efforts enhance data accessibility and deliver value across North America has been especially rewarding.
As the head chef of his household, Amir finds time in the kitchen to be meditative. He can focus fully on each step without losing sight of the big picture, and without stressing over the outcome. More often than not, the result reflects the love and care he puts in along the way.
