Growing up in a mining family, Jonathan spent much of his youth in the resource communities of Ontario’s north. Living amongst the booms and busts impacting these communities instilled in him a fascination with the way cities and towns are created, shaped and sustained.
As a principal and geographic discipline leader for our urban places practice, Jonathan brings a track record of successful projects supporting vibrant and resilient communities across Canada and internationally. He works with a talented team of planners, designers, and engineers who are focused on development economics, transit-oriented design (TOD), urban policy and sustainable infrastructure—all with an eye to leveraging public and private investment to create value for stakeholders.
Prior to joining Stantec, Jonathan served as the Chief Planner for the City of Victoria, B.C., led the development of a high-density, masterplanned community, and managed planning aspects of a major rapid transit project in Metro Vancouver.
