Liisa brings a rare combination of consulting and regional planning experience, with time spent in private practice and on the former Calgary Metropolitan Region Board as their sole land use planner and former CEO. While with the Board, she played a central role in developing Calgary’s first provincially mandated Regional Growth Plan and Servicing Plan. Additionally, she’s authored or managed background reports on housing needs, population and employment projections, transit and transportation, agriculture, and related regional topics.
Known for her collaborative leadership style, Liisa excels at navigating complex projects, working closely with elected officials, technical teams, developers, and communities to move challenging initiatives forward. Her project experience spans community development, annexations, municipal and regional policy, area structure and area redevelopment plans, and land use and zoning applications. She has also worked on transit-oriented redevelopment, brownfield and industrial land use planning, and natural resource and pipeline projects.
In addition to her planning work, Liisa teaches at the University of Calgary and is a recipient of an Alberta Professional Planners Institute planning award.
