Wahib is Stantec’s Lead for Sustainability Buildings Services in Atlantic Canada. As a sustainability consultant with a mechanical engineering background, he evaluates the performance of building systems for new developments and existing buildings. His goal is to quantify and qualify systems, determining effective design solutions for improving energy performance and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, while considering environmental, economic, and social impacts. He specializes in energy modeling, energy audits, carbon neutral studies, renewable systems, life cycle cost analyses, and design standards and guidelines such as NECB, ASHRAE 90.1, LEED®, and GreenGlobes®.

One of Wahib’s most recent notable projects—with exemplary energy and greenhouse gas reduction outcomes—was the design and construction of two new search and rescue stations for the Canadian Coast Guard in Newfoundland. Another recent project was designing a repeatable RCMP small detachment, a facility design capable of achieving net zero anywhere across Canada. Wahib led this effort and curated a unique feasibility study to determine location-based recommendations for each detachment design.

When he isn’t at work, you might find Wahib enjoying nature with some outdoor activities—whether that’s camping, kayaking, skiing, or throwing a frisbee on a beach.
