Brian is a planner and designer dedicated to creating advanced science, engineering, and innovation facilities. From teaching spaces to highly technical labs, he creates environments that support institutional missions, bolster learning, and elevate educational and research goals.
Passionate about advancing discovery and innovation, Brian partners with educators and researchers to design functional and adaptable facilities that foster collaboration, interdisciplinary connections, and long-term value. One of his most memorable projects involved repurposing the 1920s Stieff Silver Foundry for Johns Hopkins University. He helped transform a former silversmith factory into a home for modern imaging and materials characterization research labs. For him, it stands as a powerful example of how rigorous planning and interdisciplinary teamwork can turn a complex structure into a signature research environment.
When he isn’t designing technical learning spaces, Brian enjoys traveling with his family. Some of their favorite destinations are Frank Lloyd Wright houses. He also likes to stay active, skiing and riding bikes—he and his wife completed a century (100-mile/161-kilometre) bike ride.
