Derek is an associate electrical engineer and project manager who specializes in complex electrical design and power systems studies. Enjoying a challenge, he finds great satisfaction in working on projects that are technically complex, such as the Bonnybrook Wastewater Treatment Plant in Calgary, Alberta.
Derek is part of a team that’s working on replacing the complete medium voltage electrical distribution of the Bonnybrook plant, all while maintaining the plant’s operational status. The plant needs to be online 24/7, and so trying to replace all the key electrical components is a puzzle.
When he’s not figuring out his latest project, Derek goes for long bike rides through Gatineau Park or spends free time with his family.
