A thoughtful collaborator and voice, Luis brings a collaborative working style, a critical design perspective, and over 30 years of experience to his role as senior principal and education leader in our Philadelphia office. Formerly a university design faculty member and frequently invited juror and critic, Luis has had extensive involvement with higher education and academic master planning. He’s worked domestically and internationally as well as in the primary education, corporate, and hospitality sectors.
Luis believes in robust dialogue and values the challenging questions that emerge when clients and colleagues collaborate. “Education is changing. As designers, we need to challenge our fixed views to address emerging use patterns and needs in a relevant, meaningful way.”
When it comes to creativity, Luis believes in the transformative value of time spent living and working abroad. “Absent of familiar patterns and contexts, what do you do when asked to design an entirely new university from scratch?” Being mindful of different points of view, Luis feels he can better understand how we learn and form communities. To him, these experiences teach us to consider what the true goals are and how design success is defined and achieved.
