As the human resources director for the Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, Roel is accountable for culture, capabilities, and talent. With over 20 years of experience, he’s equipped to deal with a variety of operations, continents and cultures—innovation and creativity are of paramount importance in everything he does.
As a proud member of the local Inclusion & Diversity (I&D) Council, Roel has helped set up and roll out the I&D strategies for the Continental Europe and Middle East regions. As a firm believer of Stantec’s core values, it’s his goal to help build an inclusive and diverse community in which each and every employee can bring their true self to work. Roel firmly believes in the strategic organizational value of I&D for employee engagement, value for decision making, building strong and sustainable client relations, talent management.
Roel is an active member of the Professional Advisory Committee in Human Resources Management for the Han University of Applied Sciences. With this, he strategically contributes to the study’s curriculum as well as raising the importance of I&D for future HR professionals. When Roel is not working, he is most likely enjoying some quality time with his family, mountain biking in the woods near his house, or going out to eat in one of his favorite restaurants.
