It’s a compliment to say an engineering project is, “built to last.” It’s even more of a compliment to say it’s “built for the future.” The distinction? The latter anticipates needs and embraces sustainability. 173 Pacific Highway, North Sydney, is a 31-storey commercial building featuring “expressed” structural steel mega-trusses, designed to resist earthquakes and high wind force, and which has 5-star National Australian Built Environment Rating System rating, and a self-assessed Green Star Design and As-Built rating equivalent to 5 stars.

Owners, tenants, and visitors all benefit from the consciously designed, future-focused spaces that minimize negative impacts on the environment and maximize the wellbeing of the occupants, and the community. Working with architect, Woods Bagot, our team provided expertise in structural engineering, civil engineering, integration with existing buildings and site conditions for the client, Maville Bay.

So, what is the result of building for the future? Occupants report environmentally friendly buildings are more comfortable, municipalities appreciate reduced demand on services, and clients enjoy an enhanced reputation and the opportunities that can bring.
